Ecosystem Partnerships

We partner with policy, advocacy, and other education leaders and organizations to influence policy alignment, address disincentives, and build broader public value to sustain local district systems impact.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, CEI has been at the forefront of breakthrough redesign for education recovery, community-driven change, and cross-sector partnerships. We leverage our more than 15-year history and trusted relationships with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), Colorado Governor’s Office, and school districts across Colorado to support systems and leaders navigating significant disruption.

Our position at the intersection of policy and practice provides a front row seat to how policy and governance can enable or prevent districts to scale systems change outcomes that make school more meaningful and relevant for today’s learners.

Sustaining Impact Through State-Level Ecosystem Building

  • Strengthening coherence between K-12 education, postsecondary education, and workforce – by advancing aligned K-12 education policy to expand and sustain relevant learning and enabling policy at the intersection of K-12 and postsecondary education. This includes:
    • Elevating school district policy perspectives alongside the state’s evolving work to study and advance secondary education, postsecondary education, and work-based learning integration (“Colorado’s Big Blur”) and the statewide K-12 education accountability system. Learn more about CEI’s work to reimagine education accountability here.
    • Expanding engagement with Colorado Trustee Network (CTN) to elevate promising work at the intersection of K-12 and postsecondary education systems and ignite the role of higher education trustees to mobilize collective learning and action. Learn more about CTN here.
  • Addressing the future of educational talent, staffing, and delivery models by exploring educator role redesign, staffing model design, and narrative change.

Collaborating to Create an Action Agenda for AI in Colorado Education

We are partnering with the AI Education Project (aiEDU) and other state and national leaders to build awareness and knowledge of AI in public education both within Colorado and on a national scale. CEI and aiEDU will collaborate over the course of the 2023-24 school year to:

  • Launch a growth-state steering committee to explore policy and practice implications.
  • Build AI awareness through a series of virtual summits and speaking engagements.
  • Explore statewide AI needs and perceptions. Learn more about resources and engagement opportunities here.

“Partners such as CEI must keep pushing both policy and practices that help ‘traditional’ educational institutions see viable ways to be more innovative to student and community needs.”
