Introducing CEI Team Members

November 18, 2024

We are excited to introduce two new teammates this school year who bring additional leadership and expertise to CEI’s strategic data and evaluation work. Diana Huizar and Brooks Rosenquist Montalvo, Ph.D., each joined CEI as Assistant Directors of Data and Learning. They join us from Colorado school districts and postsecondary institutions, with a focus on research, data collection and use, mental health, and policy.

Through their deep expertise and experience, our new colleagues will contribute to CEI’s efforts to operate as a data-driven learning organization and support our school and district partners to do the same.

We can’t wait for you to connect with them as we continue working together in the year ahead!

Diana Huizar, Assistant Director, Data and Learning
As Assistant Director of Data and Learning, Diana provides school and school district partners with data coaching, advising, and facilitation to support meaningful data use across their work. Diana was born to Mexican migrants in search of a better life. She is a Marine Corps veteran, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, a doctoral student in School Psychology at the University of Washington, and most importantly, a mom to an adventurous toddler. Diana is committed to collective impact work grounded in data-based decision-making and cross-sector collaboration to empower the cradle-to-career pathway for marginalized communities. Her previous work experience has focused on equitable infrastructures and data-informed decision-making, school-wide culturally responsive tier 1 implementation, district-wide mental health supports, statewide policy changes to improve P-20 pathways, and mental health.

Brooks Rosenquist Montalvo, Assistant Director, Data and Learning
As Assistant Director of Data and Learning, Brooks supports school districts and Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) to develop and improve their career-connected learning programming through appropriate use of data. Brook’s previous experience includes 10 years as a classroom teacher working in a diverse range of K-12 settings in California, Louisiana, and Taiwan. Prior to joining CEI, Brooks worked for eight years on Denver Public Schools’ Research & Evaluation team, where his work focused on large-scale stakeholder surveys, program evaluation, and coordinating external research partnerships. Brooks has a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from Georgetown University, a master’s degree in Mathematics Education, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy, both from Vanderbilt’s Peabody College.
